This is the place to look for emails and letters Mr. Liberatore has sent to choir members and parents, and other relevant announcements.
Missed an email newsletter from Mr. Liberatore? He probably doesn't have a correct email address for you. Please email the webmistress with your correct email address.

Tuesday Nov 5, 2008 RETREAT INFORMATION
Greetings. Here is the link to the website for the Fall Choir Retreat, November 15/16. At the site you can find links to the 3 forms you'll need, as well as schedules, maps, packing lists, forms, etc. http://sites.google.com/site/gunnchoirretreat08/
Or click here to view all the information and forms as one pdf file.
I will also make hard copies available in class for anyone who would prefer it the old fashioned way.
If you're planning to drive on the trip, be sure you have also turned in the private car form for this year.

Greetings! I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the following dates:
1) Fall Retreat at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch is in two weeks, November 15 and 16. We leave early Saturday morning and are back in the early afternoon Sunday. We need a large group of parents to chaperone, so if you like being in the redwoods and can join us, please write me back.
2) Original compositions are due Wednesday, November 12th. Parents are more than welcome to submit pieces too! Check out the Composers' Project website.
3) To those of you singing tomorrow morning at Grace, I will have bagels etc for you at 9:30 AM. We will rehearse until about 10:15. The service starts at 10:30. We are not wearing the choir attire, but everyone should dress very nicely. I so appreciate you guys doing this. With such a large amount of scholarship money to be raised for the trip, it is important that we take every singing engagement that comes along.
Best,
Bill Liberatore

Just a quick reminder that the Gunn Choir Fall Concert is tonight at 7:00 at Grace Lutheran Church, corner of Loma Verde and Waverley. I have a few details I could use your help with:
1) The students need to be there dressed and ready to go at 5:00.
2) The students were given an envelope of tickets to sell. Any unsold tickets or money were supposed to be turned in last Thursday. Less than half did so, which leads me to believe that there are a lot of unsold tickets sitting in backpacks. Please check with your student to confirm that they have turned in any unsold tickets. I only have 150 to sell at the door right now, and we need a lot more than that! They can turn them in before the 5:00 rehearsal.
3) If you donated to the Choir Boosters very recently, there may not have been time to mail you your pass that gets you into concerts without buying a ticket. We will have extra passes at the box office, and you can pick up your pass when you arrive at the church.
4) Gordon Collins is coming to record the concert on CD and DVD. There will be order forms at the concert.
It is going to be a great night. If you or your student has any other questions or problems, don't hesitate to call me. I will be available on my cell after 2:00.
Best,
Bill Liberatore

Greetings. There is so much going on in Choir right now, I wanted to try and summarize it all in an email, but I am afraid it will be so long that no one will read it! I will try to hit the high points and be really brief. Everything you could need is always at GunnChoir.org, which I hope you will bookmark and become familiar with. It is an amazing resource for our choir students and families.
1) Fall Concert: This Sunday at 7:00 at Grace Lutheran Church. Students need to arrive ready and dressed at 5:00 PM.
2) Fall Concert Tickets: If you donated to the Boosters, you have been sent a pass. If you just donated very recently, you may have to pick up your pass at the door. All students have a packet of 4 tickets to sell if you need to buy any. Tickets can also be purchased online.
3) Fall Concert Rehearsal at the church: The students are rehearsing at the church Thursday morning. They will miss 3 classes. Encourage them to see their teachers ahead of time for missed work. Permission slips are online.
4) Choir Attire: If you ordered choir attire and did not pick it up, please do so ASAP.
5) Sponsorship: Thanks so much to all the families who have been helping us sell ads in the program. With the financial picture being what it is in the world right now, it is going to be quite a challenge to provide the necessary scholarship this year. However, we have more than 140 people going to Prague and Vienna, and I know if we all work together we can create the funds necessary for all students to be able to afford to go. The website is really in great shape to help you solicit donations as easily as possible. The Sponsorship brochure is here as is a quick and easy link to donate using PayPal, and ad dimensions!! There is also a great link to a recording of the Choir in New York last Spring. I think their singing would inspire lots of your friends and relatives to help us out. If you have any ads for this program that you have not turned in, I can accept them as late as Wednesday.
6) WInter Concert: Another great link on GunnChoir.org is a link to my website for the Composers' Project. We are again going to mount a Winter Concert of all original music written by Gunn students, staff, alumni and parents. I hope you will check out my website and think about submitting something. You don't need any arranging or harmonization skills, if that is not something you do. We need your lyrics and inspiration!
To Tour Participants:
I wanted to take this opportunity to show you my current list of trip participants, just to make sure I did not miss anybody. Please also take a look if you are traveling Land Only or are requesting an Air Deviation to return at a later date, and make sure my info next to your name is accurate.
Thanks! It's going to be amazing!
[The full list of tour participants was sent out in the email. Please contact the Webmistress if you did not receive the email.]
I look forward to seeing you all Sunday night!
Best,
Bill Liberatore

Dear Choir Members and Families,
I have to tell you, I love writing this letter every year. Maybe more so than any other letter I write. It is so full of unknown possibilities! All the yearbook pages of 2008-09 are blank right now, waiting for these amazing kids to fulfill another year of fantastic adventures and performances. I am so grateful to be starting my 23rd year of teaching with as much enthusiasm for all of this as I have ever had. I owe that to our returning students who have over the last 3 years raised the level of excellence to a degree I will always look back on as some of the most exciting musical experiences of my career. The concerts in Italy, the stunning performance at Stanford, and the remarkable singing in NYC last Spring are all great examples of the tremendous rewards that come after a school year of hard work and dedication. I can hardly wait to get started! Let me fill you in on some of the excitement yet to come in 2008-09.
[The rest of this letter, which was sent on paper to choir members' homes, can be found on InClass under Choir Course Information.]

Greetings! It is going to be a great year. Enrollment is terrific (over 160!) with more men than we have ever had in the Gunn Choir. Good enrollment, talented and enthusiastic students, and a large and dedicated parent support group make for an outstanding educational experience for our students. It is a fantastic group of kids and working and touring with them is a huge and wonderful part of my life. I look forward to the many adventures of 08-09!
